Rylar is a drow born to the House of Thorns. Like others of his House he seeks redemption from the betrayal of the House of Roots. He also despises the Unliving Host as the abomination it and its armies are. He has taken, in the last year, to traveling the city of Daskaen-Thyraxios giving aid to those that he can help. His dark clothes and dark skin have given rise to the locals referring to him as Rylar the Black. His exploits to assist others give rise to his name amongst the Drow: Kindhearted.
Rylar has recieved training in the ways of the Avenger since the age of 7. He leaned more towards assassination, purity, and secrecy then betrayal and sorcery … in fact he is inept with arcane abilities. However Rylar possesd a strong faith and physicality and was sent to train in the ways of the Avenger. This has been proven to be a sound choice. Rylar passed his training with aplomb, and his initial assignment was to assist in guarding the storehouses. There he learned much from the tales of the other guards and honed his senses.
One night during his standard posting, Rylar received what he believed was a vision from Enkan’azil. He was called to go out and aid the people of Durm against the Unliving Host in whatever fashion needed. He got the impression some goals he would need to accomplish would be direct against the Unliving Host, while other parts of his mandate seemed to suggest he would need to tackle the issue through oblique goals.
His superiors, knowing Rylar had shown a strong faith in the past, give him leave to follow his vision but keep a close eye on him. As he begins his path, not everything he does makes sense to his superiors but everything he does in some way hampers the Unliving Host and holds true to the tenets of their House. His path is still monitored closely, and the House is ready to “recall” Rylar at a moment’s notice.
Rylar’s fellows have taken to calling him “The Kindhearted” as he helps any who need it, but Rylar has shown time and time again that if you are the target of his “help”, he is not very kind at all.
